The United States has provided fresh clarification on the rules guiding its Visa Waiver Programme (VWP), explaining who qualifies for visa-free travel and the requirements travelers must meet before entering the country.
According to the US Department of State, travelers using the Visa Waiver Programme must first obtain approval through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) before boarding any flight or sea vessel heading to the United States.The agency also noted that eligible travelers who prefer to have a visa stamped in their passport can still apply for a regular US visitor visa instead of using the ESTA system.

### Who Is Not Eligible?

Individuals who have traveled to or resided in certain restricted countries, including Cuba, Iran, Iraq, or Sudan, cannot use the ESTA system.
