Enugu was thrown into serious drama on Friday evening after a married banker was allegedly caught red-handed with his side chick inside a popular hotel in Independence Layout.
The man, identified as Mr. Chike Okafor, 42, works with a top commercial bank in Enugu. According to eyewitnesses, he had checked into Royal Gold Hotel around 6:30pm with a young lady said to be a UNN undergraduate simply identified as Amaka.
Unfortunately for him, his wife, Mrs. Ngozi Chike, had been suspecting his late-night movements. A source told our reporter that she was tipped off by one of her husband’s colleagues who noticed “too much closeness” between him and the student. “The wife stormed the hotel with two policemen. Na so we just dey hear noise for reception,” an eyewitness said. The situation escalated when Mrs. Ngozi forced her way into the hotel room. Guests nearby claimed they heard shouts, crying, and a heated exchange.
According to hotel staff, Mrs. Ngozi screamed: “So this is where you bring your small girls when I dey house cooking for you? God will judge you, Chike!”
Videos recorded by bystanders show the wife dragging her husband out of the hotel lobby while Amaka quickly covered her face with a scarf. Some guests could be heard shouting “Wahala!”as the scene turned rowdy.
By the time police officers intervened, Mr. Chike was visibly shaken. Sources say he begged his wife to calm down and promised to explain later. However, Mrs. Ngozi insisted she would take the matter to family elders. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked heated debate on social media.
On Facebook, one user wrote: “Married men no dey fear God again. How can you disgrace your wife like this?
Another Twitter comment read: “Leave married men alone, young girls! You are destroying homes.
Others, however, blamed the wife for involving police in a private matter.
As of Saturday morning, neither Mr. Chike nor his wife has released an official statement. Close friends of the family say the situation has caused serious tension, and extended relatives have been called in to mediate.
Moral of the Story: Secrets don’t stay hidden for long. No matter how smart someone thinks they are, the truth will always surface.
